M.Ed., LPC

Therapist

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in West Virginia, and I’m passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and find meaningful change. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Science (Psychology) from Bluefield State University and my Master’s in Counseling and Human Development from Lindsey Wilson College.

I began my clinical work in the substance use field, which continues to be an area I care deeply about. I’ve also had the privilege of working with combat veterans and have a strong passion for supporting adolescents as they navigate identity, relationships, and life transitions.

I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families, and I have experience treating concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, mood disorders, and behavioral challenges. My approach is person-centered, meaning I meet you where you are and tailor therapy to your unique needs and goals.

I use an integrative style, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, while also incorporating elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Reality Therapy, and Family Systems approaches.

As someone from Southern West Virginia, I value connection, authenticity, and compassion. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow. Originally from Southern West Virginia, I have spent most of my life in the region, with earlier experiences living in Charlotte, North Carolina, which helped shape my appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives. As a wife and a mother I value connection, authenticity, and compassion in both my personal and professional life.

MA, CRC, CVE, Provisionally Licensed Counselor

Therapist

I began my career in the medical field, where I developed a strong passion for caring for others. I also have a background in rehabilitation and disability services, which helped shape my understanding of the many different ways people experience challenges, strength, and resilience in their daily lives. From there, I went to Lily’s Place, where I supported newborns and thier families impacted by substance use exposure. That experience was deeply meaningful and helped me better understand how substance use affects not only individuals, but entire families and generations. I later continued my work in a 28-day inpatient substance use treatment program, where I had the privilege of walking alongside individuals as they began their journey toward recovery, healing, and rebuilding stability in their lives.

I work from a person-centered approach, which means I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is to meet you where you are and provide a space that feels safe, supportive, and free of judgment—where you can feel heard, accepted, and understood just as you are.

I have experience working with a wide range of concerns, including trauma, personality disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, and substance use. I understand that these experiences can feel heavy, confusing, and sometimes isolating, and you don’t have to go through them alone.

I genuinely enjoy working with individuals from all walks of life. It is important to me that therapy feels like a place where you can show up as your authentic self, without pressure or expectation. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in empathy, and I will work alongside you at your pace to help you build insight, develop coping tools, and move toward the life you want for yourself.

MSW, LGSW

Therapist

I began my career in the helping profession at Children’s Home Society, where I worked closely with children and families navigating trauma, instability, and major life transitions. That early experience shaped my belief in the power of safety, consistency, and genuine connection. I learned that healing often begins when someone feels truly seen, heard, and supported—especially during life’s most difficult moments.

From there, my work expanded into addiction services, supporting individuals and families affected by substance use and co-occurring challenges. I have experience providing outpatient and intensive services, with a focus on recovery, accountability, and rebuilding trust—both with oneself and with others. My approach is compassionate, nonjudgmental, and trauma-informed. I strive to meet clients where they are, honoring their resilience while helping them build practical tools for growth, stability, and long-term change.

MSW, LICSW

Therapist

Hello, my name is Sherry Lord, a Licensed Independent Social Worker in West Virginia. I have been working in Behavioral health for more than 10 years in various capacities and have held clinical roles consistently since 2020. I see my role as a therapist as an Agent for Change, it is my role to help you change and grow into the vision you see for yourself, through the use of client centered, strength based and evidenced based practices in our session.

Seeing people change and grow in their lives is the driver for me to continue to do what I do. Offering a compassionate and safe environment where a person can be heard, validated, and supported is the basis for everything I do in therapy. What attracted me to this career is a passion for helping people.

Goal setting starts with exploring what the client wants the outcome of therapy to be, where do they see themselves at the end of our time together, and what do they want to see change as a result of therapy. Then I begin to assist them in setting a direction for their life and for the future sessions that become short term goals with achievable objectives.
